Why Is There No Nutrition Info In Alot Of Meat?
Posted by Zolly | Under Nutrition Friday Feb 26, 2010I usually eat light throughout the day and for dinner, I am a red meat type of girl!…. its also ALOT cheaper.
I’ve noticed that (for example) steaks do not have any nutrition info. Tonight we threw in an oven roast in the crock pot with a bunch of veggies. I have NO idea how many calories, protein, fat etc. I hate it! How can I find out?
That’s an excellent question.
Believe it or not, the answer lies with corrupt government officials that have special interests in protecting the meat industries.
It would be quite difficult for the industries to include nutritional information and it would require an expensive switch to a new, less profitable system.
It would also eventually lead to the divulging of what exactly is in the meat, which would be bad news for an industry that’s been twisting the facts for a long time, in an attempt to make its products appear much healthier and more necessary than they actually are.
I can give you several sites with information on conventional meat, but I don’t think that’s what you are looking for. If you are interested, just look at some of the past questions I answered, some of which are under the Best Answers list.
