Look for a Registered Dietitian (RD)in your community. Many RDs have BS and MS degrees in nutrition and health and all RDs must complete a 1000 hour Internship in hosptials and other health care settings and pass a registration exam before they can practice. They are very knowledgeable and can work out a plan that is just right for you. You can find a dietitian in your area at http://www.eatright.org, the American Dietetic Associaition’s website or ask your doctor for a referral. Many health and wellness centers have dietitians available.
Don’t be fooled by individuals who call themselves nutritionists. Unless they have the letters R.D., R.D.E., or L.D. behind their names they are not recognized by the American Dietitic Association as a nutrition professional.
