When’s The Best Time To Add Copepods?
Posted by Zolly | Under Nutrition Sunday Dec 27, 2009I just got a scooter blenny the other day and he’s eating prepared foods (thanks to the lfs for training him!) but I’d like to supplement his diet a little and I heard pods were great for providing good nutrition. I also have an ocellaris clownfish and blue damsel, so I’d like to add them at a time when they won’t eat them. Should I add them at night, or when would be the best time to add the pods without my other fish gobbling them down?
Night time is best. The “pod pile” is a good idea, because all your fish will gobble them up as soon as they see them. You will probably have to restock the pods periodically to maintain their numbers. You may also want to order some Amphopods.
Night would be good where all the fishes are asleep. The pods will then be able to go into hiding and provide snack through out the next few days and that’ll give the fish something to do like pods hunting. And hopefully these initial pods can seed the tank and start alittle pod community.
But I have a question of my own, where did you get live pods ? You cultivate them in a refugium or something?
