the old standby is a banana. also peanut butter but i personally avoid peanuts because the arginine can promote coldsores.
really the easiest thing to do is buy a supplement like Muscle Milk that has a lot of vitamins etc and taurine already in it. it's in a balance that will be healthy, because especially creatine can be harmful if you take too much. i really like all the products by Cytosport (the makers of Muscle Milk) there's one called Pre-formance designed for before you workout, it has a lot of carbs and vitamins and a lil protein, and there's one called Cytomax which you can add to that and or drink separately which is for sustained energy (designed for cyclists, but works for any kind of training), and finally Muscle Milk for recovery. It's good stuff and not expensive either if you go to allstarhealth.com
I sound like an ad but I swear this is how I really work out and it's through trial and error that I found this is the most effective way for me. Good luck!

Nothing! Get a better protein source--look into Whey products and you'll find that they're full of stuff you don't want in your body.
As for peanut butter, nuts are a good source of protein, but unless you're eating all-natural peanut butter, the added sugar just isn't worth it. Since you eat meat now, may I recommend fish and egg yokes (cooked or uncooked, doesn't matter) as great sources of protein, along with good cheeses, soy products, and nuts of numerous varieties...
Anyway, if you're trying to bulk up, do it wisely--unlike most of the insecure, American muscle-builder types. Don't follow their example, Nick... It's not too late. There's still hope for you!
