Is There A Mathematcal Way To Convert Fat To Calories?

Sunday Nov 29, 2009

I’m going on a diet, & to closely monitor my calorie intake, I’m reading the nutrition facts pannel of everything I eat. Problem is, in Poland (I’m on vacation), they don’t have a very descriptive nutrition pannel. It shows how much sugar & fat there is in the food, but not how much calories. I’m good at math & if I can somehow convert fat to calories I can lose alot of weight. Help?

No… to convert fat into calories, you have to exercise.
But there are roughly 3500 calories stored in a pound of fat.

Each gram of fat is 9 calories, so just multiply the amount of fat by 9. For sugar, on the other hand, each gram is only 4 calories.

Hi,
There are 9 calories in a gram of fat. In case you might want to know there are 4 calories in a gram of protein.
Just in case you might not have the information at your fingertips, 1 oz = 28.35 gm
Hope this helps.
