How Do I Convert Grams To Percents?
Posted by Zolly | Under Nutrition Wednesday Feb 10, 2010I’m doing a project where I have to make nutrition facts for a bottle. I’m not sure how to convert the grams of Total Fat, Sodium, etc. to a percent daily value. can anyone help me? :}
I really don’t know how, but what I’d do is this:
1. If I had time, I’d contact the school’s dietitian or a hospital dietitian and get some information from them. If I didn’t have time, I’d do this:
2. I’d get several food products and copy the information on their labels and figure where to go from that. If you have to do a liquid, find some bottles of liquids, (for example):
The cans I just checked are based upon a 2,000 calorie daily diet.
Serving size: 236g (2 servings per can)
Amount per serving:
Sodium 1000mg = 42%
Carbohydrate 22g = 7%
Dietary fiber 2g = 8%
From a few different kinds, you can build a table of values that you should be able to use. I hope this helps.
