Do you need protein supplements to increase muscle mass?

Not if you’re already getting enough protein. Protein bars and powders can really help without giving you too many calories which could put a layer of fat over the muscles making them harder to see.

LIONDANC:

You need protein to build muscle but you don’t need a supplement if you eat healthy.
If you are into body building, wrestling, weight lifting, or other physically strenuous exercise you might want to look into supplementing.
It all depends on what you do physically.

You need protein, period. Supplements can help, but focus on real food sources. You also need carbs to spare protein from being burned as fuel. Healthy fats are necessary, too. Don’t focus just on protein.
